What has changed ?
For those who have already
had the brochure of the event for some time, not much
has changed, other than the dates and the acceptance of
mixed crews (as in the 1970s).
For those who first learnt
about the event at the Rétromobile motor show, we hope
that this postponement will give you a chance to join
us, since the deadline for entry has now been put back
to 1st July, 2000.
The regulations of this regularity
event remain the same, so all you have to do is return
the entry form contained in the brochure, specifying whether
you wish to enter in the 100% female category or the mixed
category.
If you no longer have these
documents, another brochure will be sent to you upon request
by telephone or e-mail.
All the crews which had already
entered have confirmed that they will be with us in September.
We hope that this postponement will also enable all those
who learnt about the event at the Rétromobile motor show
to join us and sign up before the 1st
July deadline for entries.
Must my car be specially prepared?
Absolutely not. On the contrary,
we value the cars which approach the most their original
configuration. There is thus no necessity to transform
your classic car with a roll-bar, jump guard, foam filled
tank... However, if your car has got those modifications,
it is still eligible to take part.
Insurance
When
participating in this type of event, one always wonders
whether it is necessary to take out personal insurance.
Please be aware that this is not really necessary. You
only need to have a normal insurance policy, which is
mandatory for any vehicle used on the open road. Your
vehicle insurance certificate must be presented at the
scrutineering. In addition, the organisation has taken
out complementary insurance from the leading specialist
in insurance for classic cars ICC Assurances. As a result,
the competitors are insured against the monetary consequences
of their third-party liability for property damages and
physical injuries, either in the absence of or in addition
to the individual insurance policy which each competitor
took out separately to cover her vehicle participating
in the Rallye des Princesses.
Please contact : ICC Assurances - Mr Eric
Léonard - Tel. ++ 33 (0) 1 42 46 52 52. - Fax : ++ 33

Does one need sporting licences
for the crew or the car?
For the crew, no sporting
licence is required. For the car, a FIVA card is necessary.
The FIVA (International Federation of the Old Vehicles)
is the organization which manages the regularity rallies
for classic cars, of which The Rallye des Princesses is
part. The cards are issued by the respective federations
of each country. If you do not have that card, contact
our secretariat which will guide you in this formality.
What about signing on and scrutineering?
The purpose of the signing
on will be to show that the vehicle is registered and
insured. Scrutineering will pay detailed attention to
the major elements of security of the car (traffic lights,
fastening of the battery, presence of an extinguisher...)
and its road legality. Remember, Halda, Tripmaster, Retrotrip...
or any other additional distance measuring devices are
prohibited if they are electronicals.
I do not have any experience in
rallying. Can I nevertheless take part?
Yes of course. The rally
welcomes new crews which never took part in any rally.
All will be doing well and will not left behind compared
to the more experienced participants. We also welcome
many couples, which will give an even more friendly character
to the event.
What if I do not yet know the name of my co-pilot
or what car I will use?
In that case, we invite you
to send in your entry form, even if it is incomplete,
in order to reserve a place on the entry list and thus
to ensure your participation. You will subsequently be
able to add or modify the information about the car or
the composition of your crew. If you wish, we can run
an ad on our Internet site to help you complete your crew.
Can you tell me what type of maps are necessary?
We recommend getting the
Michelin "Série Jaune" maps, nos. 237-238-239-240 and
245.
The hotels are reserved by the organisation and the
cost is included in the entry fee. Can I choose my own
room and what are the arrangements for the evening meal?
Your entry fee includes hotel
room reservations for two people for all the stopover
points on the rally, which means that your hotel room
will be waiting for you regardless of when you arrive.
With the confirmation of your entry, you will receive
a form where you will be able to specify the type of room
you want (twin, double, single…) and make any other specific
requests. You may request a change at any time. We will
do our best to satisfy your requests, subject to availability
The evening meal is always taken together and is of excellent
quality. It is accompanied by a prize-giving ceremony
during which the day's best crews will be rewarded.
What do I win at the end of the rally?
Awards and trophies will
reward the best-ranked participants by category, group
and class. Special awards are also given to the most deserving
crews, best mixed crew, etc. There is no prize-money in
cash, but, thanks to our sponsors, there will be numerous
and valuable prizes for the best participants: Ilias Lalaounis
gold jewellery, Christian Dior watches, Bioscreen beauty
products, Louis Vuitton bags and luggage….
What if I do not have a classic car but would like
to participate?
Our sponsor VODITI, the classic
car rental specialist, can provide you with a car for
the rally. For further information, call Jean-Claude PRUVOT
au 00 33 (0) 1 49 74 03 32 or go to www.voditi.com.
What is the cost of a service team
?
The entry fee for a service
team of 2 people amounts 9.000 FF (1.372 ). For
any particular request, please contact us.
Tell me more about the road-book
?
The road-book will be your
bedside book during the 6 days of the rally. On one hand,
it indicates the route to be followed, with the representation
of the crossroads, change of direction and the distances
between each note. In addition, it includes also very
useful additional information, like the detailed timing
of the day, the practical details on the location of the
hotels, carparks, plans of access... The distances mentioned
in the road-book are in kilometers and miles.
Is there any map reading?
There is no map reading in
the Liege-Rome-Liege 2000. All the route is represented
in " arrow with distance " notes in the road-book.
However, we suggest you to get the maps of the rally (references
and numbers published in the newsletter). These can be
useful to visualize geographically the route and if necessary,
to enable you to short-circuit the itinerary.
Dress code ?
In our rallies most crews
do not wear competition overalls. The dress code during
the day is casual. The outfit for the evening meals will
be elegant and more particularly for the official prize
giving ceremony in Rome where cocktail dresses and ties
will be preferred.
How is the return journey organized?
You do it on your own. The
rally finishes Saturday September 23 in the evening, with
the official prize giving ceremony. The hotel from Saturday
to Sunday is included in your entry fee. Most of the competitors
are coming back by road but if you wish to come back by
plane, we organise a truck for your car to Paris (about
1.650FF or 250 Euro) (extra cost to be announced later).
