The 5th edition nolvelties and with no change
THE NOVELTIES
Special exception cars
Once a dossier has been selected, the Organization Committee reserves the right to make special exceptions for vehicles not corresponding precisely to the eligibility criteria described below (ex: Morgan, Bugatti replica, etc…) These participants will race in a separate group: Group 8: Exception, an average of 50 km per hour, without the possibility of aspiring to the women’s or mixed general ranking.Three circuits on the agenda
Following the traditional La Châtre circuit, our Princesses will have the opportunity to discover the Charade circuit as well as the Technopole d’Alès circuit.Security and penalties
Each day, participants will be allowed to be up to 30 minutes late without being penalized, (getting gas, busy traffic…) in order to avoid taking unnecessary risks on the open road. Always for security, radars will be placed throughout the course in order to guarantee that the highway code is obeyed. The first offence will be sanctioned with a 100 EUR fine, the second with a 200 EUR fine and if there is a third offence, the team is disqualified. The fines will be paid in their entirety to the Association Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque (heart surgery association), children of the world, supported by the Rally des Princesses. A check is to be made out the same evening to the MCC.THAT IS WITH NO CHANGE
Entry fees have not encreased
For this fifth annual race, and with the help of our partners – that we thank a lot – the 2004 entry fees is the same as 2003.Everyone can win
Highlighting the oldest automobiles, with allowances made so that everyone actually has the chance to win.For this fifth race, the system of averages determined by the category of age of your automobile, will be placing again.
This system, which seems fairer to us, will operate as follows
- Pre-war vehicles, up until 1945 : 40 km/h
- Vehicles dating from 1946 to 1959 : 45 km/h
- Vehicles dating from 1960 to 1972 : 50 km/h
Sign up by teams
You can enter the race by squad of three vehicles : with the name of the team inspired by the make of the car, or of a region, or simply by the affinity that unites you; at the finish line, a trophy will be awarded the best squad, chosen by adding the combined points of its three teams.A « non-trip » class
The competition for first place has become keen on the Rally des Princesses, just like every other automobile race that has become an established sporting event; consequently, nearly all of you have equipped your cars with Rétrotrip. This time, for the fifth annual race, we will continue the prize for the first team to arrive at the finish line who has placed the best without the use of this accessory which, we hope to demonstrate, is by no means indispensable.
A rally exclusively for women
After four years, we realize that for most of the mixed teams, Madame drives the entire time. There are few instances of her masculine co-pilot taking the wheel in the liaisons, which is the only time he has been authorized to do so, up until now.We plan to reinforce again the spirit of this rule, since the partner of the opposite sex will no longer be entitled to drive the liaison routes, unless his pilot is momentarily incapable of driving, for whatever reason. But, as in the regularity sectors, a severe penalty will be the sanction if we find a man behind the wheel.
Radio transmission
As in 2003 and in response to requests from some of our contestants, if you use a completely open convertible--Bugatti 37, Fiat Camerano, Austin Lehman, etc.—that requires the use of a helmet, inter-helmet radios will be authorized in the future, in order to provide improved communicationEligibility
During the fourth annual race, our 45 teams gave the spectators an extraordinary show. And it’s going to get better as the years go on and we progressively back up the model date of cars eligible for participation. For next year’s 2004 edition, we will accept cars up to the model year of 1972.2004 edition’s race will be open to the following models:
Group 3 : Vehicles before 1940
Group 4 : 1940 to 1949
Group 5 : 1950 to 1959
Group 6 : 1960 to 1969
Group 7 : 1970 to 1972.
