Eligibles Vehicles: Auto, Truck, Quad


GROUP 1: HISTORIC AUTOMOBILES

Both all-terrain and standard vehicles, with anywhere from 2 to 6 wheels, weighing less than 3.5 tons, dating from pre-war to 1986. Vehicles dating from pre-war through 1986 with 2 to 6 wheels, weighing at least 3.5 tons, all-terrain or not.

GROUP 2: CLASSIC AUTOMOBILES

All terrain 4x4 vehicles. weighing less than 3.5 tons, dating from 1987 to 1996. No special approvals needed.

Group 3: MORE RECENT VEHICLES CATEGORY

These vehicles will have their own special ranking, since their performances cannot be compared with those of vehicles enrolled in the Historic and Classic categories.[nl)
Traditional all terrain vehicles equipped with a transfer gear box, dating from 1997 to 2006. No special approvals needed.

Group 4: TRUCKS

2 to 8 wheel all-terrain trucks, weighing over 3.5 tons, dating from 1945 to 2006. No special approvals needed. Note: Competitors must prove the eligibility of their vehicle. The Selection Committee will be the only judge of whether or not to accept any given vehicle in the requested category.

QUADS

Group 1: 2WD solid axel


-  Group 1.1 Quads with 2-stroke, double-cylinder, 251 cc to 650 cc engines
-  Group 1.2 Quads with 2-stroke, single-cylinder, 351 cc to 550 cc engines
-  Group 1.3 Quads with 4-stroke, single-cylinder, 251 cc to 650 cc engines
-  Group 1.4 Quads with 4-stroke, double-cylinder, 251 cc to 750 cc engines

Group 2: 2WD or 4WD independent suspension


-  Group 2.1 2WD Quads with single-cylinder, 251cc to 800cc engines
-  Group 2.2 2WD Quads with double-cylinder, 251cc to 800cc engines
-  Group 2.3 4WD Quads with double-cylinder, 500cc to 800cc engines
-  Group 2.4 2WD or 4WD Quads with differential transmissions.

ASSISTANCE / RAID CATEGORY

Parallel to the race, it will also be possible to follow the event, un-ranked, either as a raid or as assistance. This category is open to all traditional 4x4 all terrain vehicles, equipped with a transfer gear-box, dating through to the year 2006.

All trucks, with 4 to 8 wheels, equipped for all-terrain, dating from 1945 to 2006 are acceptable.

Except in Europe and Morocco, where it is possible to join the race via paved roads, vehicles registered as either Assistance or Raid, will follow the same route as the competitors’ course, in the order of their assigned number. Each morning, they will leave after the last competitors. No approvals are needed for the vehicles in this category. Teams should include two to four people.

These vehicles should comply with the same safety standards as the competing vehicles (see appendix 2).
