So what exactly is the Princess’ Rally?

unmondeantilles_logo.gifThe Princess’ Rally: the unique fusion of passion, elegance, and sportsmanship. The Princess’ Rally is not only an opportunity for women to escape from their daily routines, but above all, it’s a chance to combine their passion for fabulous classic automobiles with their keen interest in driving. It is what we call a “regularity” rally which offers women the wonderful possibility of expressing their powerful personalities and their competitive drive within a truly refined and exceptionally friendly atmosphere. And they sure do need to have a strong character because driving a classic car can be rather tricky, somewhat physical, and definitely demands finesse, especially when it comes to following rules and regulations to a tee. But you’d be amazed at how much FUN it can be to take charge and actually control a real beauty along the spectacular country roads of France!

btbk008.jpgWhen it comes to a regularity rally, the only things that are really important are accuracy and the synergy between the driver and her co-pilot. Four times a day, along specifically designed “Regularity Sectors”, participants must maintain a very specific average speed (50km/h). The finish line remains a mystery. Based on the driving times, penalty points (which are calculated relative to the age of the car), are assigned.
The Princess’ Rally has become one of the finest regularity races in all of France (under the guidance of the French Motor Sport Federation).

Classic cars must date back to before the war, but participants can choose from models dating from 1925 to 1976. Everything from top-of-the-line Mercedes 300SL, 1929 Alfa Roméo Zagatto, 1927 Bugatti, 1937 BMW 328, 1962 Jaguar XK120, Ferrari Dino, Porsche 356, Austin Healey, to smaller models such as the Triumph, MG, Alfa, Lancia, Fiat, Mini Cooper, Honda, and so on have all joined in this thrilling competition.

Teams are 100% female, or mixed, in which case, the gentleman is only allowed to participate as co-pilot, ever as driver! They come from all over Europe: England, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, and even the U.S.A.
