The route
The itinerary, designed to be accessible to all, charts out various legs covering 300km to 500km per day, laid out essentially along tracks, with gradually increasing difficulty as we head south, the toughest being in Mauritania. You’ll encounter all the usual traps found on this type of trail, without reaching the peak levels of traditional road rallies.
The idea is to provide motor sport fans with a unique adventure, rekindling ties with the true values of yesteryear: common sense, mutual support, a friendly atmosphere, a bit of true navigation and above all pleasure; challenges, yes, but not too tough to enjoy! The border crossing into Mauritania will be done at the official post along the seashore near Nouadhibou. This guarantees a safer entry point, through a region without any known security risks.
With this same concern in mind, we will only spend a few days in this marvelous country, before heading off to Senegal, where, as we’ve mentioned before, several legs are scheduled to let you get to know the breathtaking landscape and incomparable laterite trails of the true, “black” Africa, amidst a backdrop of baobab trees and mangroves.
The final itinerary will be unveiled in late May, everything having been studied to ensure a safe and enjoyable drive and daytime arrival, taking full advantage of the bivouacs. In the event of mechanical problems, or sudden fatigue, you can always back out of a leg and then get back into the “race” to Dakar
