A perfect kit for quads

quad-8B5D1003W-QUADS-DUNES.jpgThe 2nd edition of the TransAfricaine proved to us that the event is really made for Quads, and this year we’ll add the 2-seater (side-by-side) quads (SSV), so our quaders can share the ride with a navigator..[/b]

The quaders who joined in the 2007 event had a real ball, and they’re coming back for more! "Quading is really taking off in Europe; sales are booming, weekend treks and raids are multiplying, but until now, there was no African event adapted to their capabilities. Thanks to its rhythm and design, the TransAfricaine Classic meets their expectations and I’m convinced the drivers of these four-wheeled motorcycles will return from Dakar completely enchanted, just like all of us were on the first run,” explains Patrick Zaniroli.

On a technical note, quads participating in this year’s TransAfricaine will be free to outfit their vehicle as they wish: frame/suspension/transmission, only the engine must strictly remain the original..

The need to maintain an average speed of up to 70 km/h along certain sections, mean this is not a Sunday drive, but a real Rally Raid.

In terms of fuel autonomy, the tank should allow the machines to cover 300 km without stopping to refuel. In the Quad category, the enrolment fee includes the price transporting an 80 L trunk and two spare wheels as well as a travel case!

According to the expert: Xavier Rouchouse, Quad Passion Magazine

quad-ds-DSC04656w1.jpg“Having won first place in the overall ranking with a machine that performed beautifully, I’m really quite pleased, both for myself and for those who believed in me. But this first in a lifetime quad success story for me is really thanks to a champion organizational team who managed to give us Dakar without sparing the challenges. The breakout of the course was perfect.

The first short “specials” in France let us all get used to the art of pacing ourselves, and for some to get in synch with their machines. Then we were ready for the real, long African legs (600 km), tough enough to merit being called a real “raid”.

Finally, the short legs (300 km) enabled us to catch our breath and conclude our journey at the shores of “Lac Rose”. So yes, the TransAfricaine Classic is ideal for quad riders. And yes, regularity racing is stimulating – this is a far cry for a quiet Sunday drive, it’s a serious competition. Yes, everyone lives and breathes the spirit of solidarity.

Yes, we do have fun on the trails, and that’s what it’s all about!! A real adventure on a human scale. And since some aspects make it an individual event, there are as many different TransAfricaine Classics as there are participants!

If you push your limits, the “TAC” can really be a thrill-booster and a wonderful way to experience Africa, which is reasonably accessible on a quad, with a bit of preparation.” Xavier Rouchouse
